Ball Path Annotation

A precise trajectory arc is burned into each clip, letting you see exactly how the ball moved through the air and off the deck β€” seam, swing, spin, and all.

Share to Stun

From net to knowledge in seconds

01

Set Up, Tripod or Handheld

Prop your phone up a few metres behind the bowling stumps, aimed down the pitch β€” or just hold it steady. Stumps in frame are optional; a tripod with both ends visible gives the most accurate reads.

02

Hit Record

Open CleanBowled, tap record, and bowl your session as normal. Or import existing footage any time you like.

03

Let AI Do the Work

CleanBowled's vision engine automatically detects every delivery, tracks the ball, measures speed, and locates the bounce point.

04

Review & Share

Swipe through your annotated clip library, analyse your lengths and lines, spot patterns, improve your craft, and share the best ones with your mates.

Watch the trail, not just the number

Every tracked delivery leaves a visible path through the air. Here's what that annotation actually looks like on a real ball, in real light β€” the same overlay CleanBowled draws on every clip in your library.

Perfect placement. Perfect data.

Grab your phone and bowl β€” CleanBowled works handheld, with two stumps, one, or none in frame. For the most accurate reads, mount it on a tripod with both sets of stumps visible, spaced at the standard 22 yards.

  • 01
Tripod or Handheld A tripod or stable surface behind the bowling stumps gives the steadiest reads. No tripod? Hold the phone yourself β€” CleanBowled adjusts for handheld footage automatically.
  • 02
Set Distance to 4 Metres Position the camera at least 4 metres back from the bowling crease. This gives CleanBowled enough frame width to track the full delivery arc accurately.
  • 03
Stumps Are Optional CleanBowled tracks deliveries with two sets of stumps in frame, one, or none. For the most accurate result, use two sets spaced at the standard 22 yards β€” that's the reference geometry that gets you closest to radar-gun accuracy.
  • 04
Lock It In & Go Keep the camera steady during the session β€” rock solid on a tripod, or held firmly if you're going handheld. No special equipment required beyond the app.

Checked against a radar gun

We take CleanBowled to the nets alongside a Pocket Radar Ball Coach and write down both numbers, ball by ball. Every session we run gets published here β€” including the early ones with small sample sizes, the odd readings, and the sessions where we learned more about our own method than about the app. This is self-reported, and it is a work in progress.

Read this before you trust the numbers

  • This is self-reported and not independently verified. We ran it, we wrote it down, we published all of it β€” including the parts that don't flatter us.
  • The two devices aren't measuring the same instant. CleanBowled reports release speed. The radar reports the speed it catches a moment later, by which time air resistance has already taken some off. A small positive bias is expected here, and it's method rather than error.
  • 13 deliveries is a start, not a proof. Speeds covered 42–82 km/h, which is junior and social pace β€” we're claiming nothing about genuine fast bowling until we've measured it. Formal limits of agreement need far more data than this, so we haven't published any.
